Well, so much has been going on that I haven’t had time for… well, anything. That includes blogging. Sorry bout that.
I went to see Huey Lewis & The News with Chicago. Mom and I had decent seats except that everyone stood up the whole time around us. We eventually got up and went up to the top of the lawn in order to breathe. It was so hot there, 104 that day, that we were having a hard time dealing with the crowds. Cricket in the summertime truly sucks. Huey was great – just like I remembered him! Chicago really has lost a lot of thier charm and magic, though. I was disappointed in their show.
Let’s see, what else… I’ve been working a lot on a go-live project for work. That’s taken up a lot of my processor and memory utilization inside my brain.. Even when I’m not working, I’m still thinking about all aspects of the project. So I never seem to stop working. Thank goodness I’ve got 3 weeks vacation starting on Monday. Poor Chuck; he’s my backup for backups while I’m gone. He’s got enough on his plate already and now he’s taking on all of my responsibilities. I’m sure he’ll be fine though, because he’s excellent at what he does. The guy knows so much, it’s incredible!
Andrew and I started looking into a refinance for debt consolidation. After crunching all the numbers involved, it seems like it’s a bad idea. Looks good on paper and in concept, until you get into the details of it all. If we refi, over the length of the mortgage it will cost an extra $87k in interest payments. All that for a measily $325/mo savings now. It’s just not worth it. So, it’s on to debt plan B.
Other than the standard day to day stuff, I’ve been shooting pool a lot with some friends. Last night was Cosmic bowling at an alley in Chandler. I’ve also been volunteering as a genealogy lookup guru for obits again, which is my typical summer passtime. It helps people with their family puzzles and gets me out of the house, so mostly it’s an enjoyable time.
So much of my time has also been committed to an upcoming overseas holiday that it’ll be hard to reallocate that time once we return. It seems that I am constantly checking details such as accommodations, airplane seating, coach conditions, international food, travel tips, currency exchange, notifications to service providers… Attemping to squeeze ALL of our stuff into a single suitcase… It’s been a true case of investigative reporting to the family. I sure hope we have a good time. More about that when we return.
Until then, this is Precious Roy, and my Care Bear has green hearts for feet! YOU GUYS ARE SUCKERS!
