Reunion blast!
Nov 30th, 2005 by Jessica
Wow! I can’t say the last time I had as much fun as I did this weekend at my high school reunion. Let’s see if I can recap the trip a litle here.

Andrew and I went to see Harry Potter at the midnight showing on Thursday 11/17. It was good, but not as good as the last three in my opinion! I woke up early on Friday to go to the airport. I flew into Detroit and rented a vehicle, then drove up to Midland to stay with my sister and her family.

Saturday I attended a Road Rallye in Flushing with my brother-in-law. There were 34 cars, and we were number 27. We placed 14th, and beat out my Aunt Colleen and Uncle Steve! Pretty good, I’d say! Saturday night I took my niece Ashley to see Harry Potter. She loved it! Sunday was the banquet and also my brother Noah’s second birthday party.

Monday I visited my Dad, his wife and my little brother for a bit. I also hung out with my sister, neices and nephew. We made apple pies, pumpkin cheesecake and basically prepared for Thanksgiving dinner.

Tuesday we met Mom and went out to Soaring Eagle casino. Michigan is so lucky because they actually have craps and card tables in their casinos! We only have blackjack and it’s so hard to find a table, it’s almost not worth it.

Wednesday I did some research on the Schaar family. Then I met up with my best friend Jennifer and hung out for a while. I was able to see her new baby, Alayna, and we watched a couple of movies.

Thursday was Thanksgiving. Mom was supposed to come down from Mio for it, but she got snowed in! We had Thanksgiving dinner without her, then we went to Joe’s parent’s house to visit for a bit. It was nice to see them again.

Friday I went shopping with my sister. Then it was time for the reunion! Ten years is a long time to miss somebody. I got to see Angie and Sarah again, two of my best buds! I was also able to meet up with some long lost friends (Kristine, Marc, Molly, and Elaine specifically). It was great to see them and learn about what they are up to these days! I also had the priviledge of getting to know Jeremy a lot better. We didn’t talk much in High School, unfortunately, and he is incredibly fun to be around. I also got to see Ryan, who I didn’t know well either.

Saturday I went over to Marc’s for lunch. We ate over at Olive Garden with Jeremy and Ryan. Then Ryan took off and the three of us drove around Saginaw reminiscing and acting crazy. We went to Retro Rocks in Saginaw for a party of sorts that Angie put together. Thanks Ang!

I visited with Corey and Becky, Lori and Kristin, Walt, Duff, and many more, not to mention Marc, Jeremy, Kristine, Angie, Sarah, Elaine and Molly. It was incredibly fun to party with them! I wish we would do it every weekend. I haven’t ever been to a bar like that for a massive party, with the exception of my bachelorette party!

Since I was designated driver, I waited up with Marc to make sure our friends got home safe. We watched Fight Club (gets stranger every time I see it). Then I ended up crashing on Marc’s couch (thanks Marc!) since I didn’t think I could make it to Midland at that point.

Sunday I drove back to Midland for a little bit, then it was off for another day of visiting. I went over to see Kristine’s house and meet her adorable family! I tried to get in touch with Tim but somethings wrong with him… he worries me so. Marc and I decided to go see Harry Potter (my third time!) then it was time to go back to Midland and pack.

Monday I finished packing up, said Happy Anniversary to my sister (8 years!) and drove to Saginaw. I stopped by to wish Corey a Happy Birthday (woohoo!) and then it was off to Detroit. I was very sad to leave Michigan. I miss my friends very much!!

Reunion photos can be found in the gallery if you are interested. Enjoy!

Reunion Time
Nov 17th, 2005 by Jessica

The time has come for me to fly home and attend my 10-year high school reunion. Yup, that’s right folks! Heritage High School: Class of 1995. Saginaw, Michigan. I might add that it’s 27 degrees and SNOWING there. I’ll miss 75 and sunny for the next 11 days.

This should be… fun! Talk to ya’ll when I get back, if not before then.

Andrew and I took a drive out to Boyce Thompson Arboretum today to see the opening of Carolyn Gray’s gallery and take some pictures.

This is a fairy duster, covered in bumble bees. They were eager to pose for me. After about 50 pictures, these two seemed to come out okay.

This was a set of stairs leading to… nowhere! They were covered in cat’s claw and I thought it was a very pretty setting.

This is a German Rose from the 1680′s called Kazanlik.

I don’t know what type of plant this is, nor the green bug; although the bug is so incredibly cute! He’s covered from head to toe with yellow pollen. It’s too bad he’s not totally in focus or this photo would be incredible. Ahh well, can’t get ‘em all.

I just thought I’d post a little encouragement for my husband Andrew and his decision to write another novel this year for National Novel Writing Month. His second book sounds very interesting and I’d like very much to read it.
