Walter and Mary Dreffs and their two sets of twins (1955)
My grandparents, Walter and Mary Dreffs with their two sets of twins Walter and Wilma on the outside and little Daniel and (my mother) Diane on the inside. My mother was the baby of sixteen children (thirteen survived). I love the look on my Uncle Wally’s face… classic!

The kids look like they are full of mischievous energy; the parents look worn out
2 sets of boy-girl twins. Neat! My husband has a twin sister, and there are a number of twins and triplets on his side of the family.
There was another set of twins stillborn between these two sets, so she actually had three sets of twins. My mother, the littlest girl in this photo, was the 16th child and the baby of the family. My Grandma was about 45 in this picture and Grandpa was around 55 years old. They both had experienced lifetimes of stress already! They were also getting ready to divorce, which they did within a year of this photo being taken.
